UNLOCKING A TERM

UNLOCKING A TERM

MEAN
-is the sum of all observations divided by the number of observations. in other words, the mean is the average value of a set of data.
example:
The mean of a set that contains five data points is 20. you are also given three of five data points which are 5, 15 and 30. what are the other points?

Answer: first, we need to find the sum of the five data points, which is 5x20=100. then, we subtract 5, 15 and 30 from 100 which gives us 50. this 50 is the sum of the two unknown data. we are given that the two data points share the same value, so 50/2-25, which is the data points we are looking for.
