The Normal Approximation to the Binomial Distribution
The steps for using the normal distribution to approximate the binomial distribution:
- Check to see whether the normal approximation can be used.
- Find the mean and the standard deviation.
- Write the problem in probability notation.
- Rewrite the problem bu\y using continuity correction factor, and show the corresponding area under the normal distribution.
- Find the corresponding z values.
- Find the solution.
