Chi-square distribution

Chi-square distribution

  • similar to the t distribution, it is a family of curves based on the number of degrees of freedom. it is obtained from the values of (n-1)s2 / σ² when a random sample are selected from a normally distributed population whose variance is σ².
  • a chi square cannot be negative. at about 100 degrees of freedom, the chi square becomes somewhat symmetrical. the area under the each chi square distribution is equal to 1.00 or 100%
